CINCINNATI, April 12, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that one of its key Leitch NEXIO NewsNet customer, Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT), has won the 2006 Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award in the category of best "Newsroom Technology." Leitch entered SBT, Brazil's second-largest national television network, in the fifth annual competition, which is sponsored by one of the industry's most respected publications and serves to recognize leading-edge design and system integration. "We are pleased to share this honor with Leitch, as the NEXIO NewsNet system has provided us with a robust and scalable architecture with all of the necessary tools and speed for an easy-to-use newsroom operation," said Roberto Franco, director of technology, SBT. With the Leitch NEXIO server at its core, SBT is currently the largest Leitch newsroom system in Brazil. The project was a major upgrade — a complete transition to digital — and involved a total transformation of the operations that had been in place for many years. In conjunction with systems integrator Brasvideo, SBT selected the NEXIO NewsNet newsroom system with the goal of building a facility that would facilitate the integration of content acquisition, contribution and newsroom technologies; create an end-to-end digital infrastructure; and provide journalists and operators with a wide gamut of tools for their workflow requirements (from ingest through playout). "We are proud to be honored with this award in recognition of our work with SBT, as it underscores the value of Leitch's NEXIO NewsNet solution for digital newsroom applications," said Tim Thorsteinson, president for Harris Broadcast Communications Division's Leitch Business Unit. "NEXIO NewsNet was designed with the demanding and changing needs of major broadcasters such as SBT in mind, and we are pleased to receive this recognition for the second year in a row." Entries for the 2006 Broadcast Engineering Excellence Awards were announced in the December 2005 Digital Reference Guide, and winners were selected based on readers' votes. Winning facilities are featured in the March issue of Broadcast Engineering magazine (a Primedia publication), and award plaques will be presented at this year's National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 22-27, 2006.
