Harris Corporation to Provide Fully Integrated Broadcast System for Chunghwa Telecom's New IPTV Headend and Master Control Room

LAS VEGAS, April 13, 2008 (NAB2008, Booth N2502) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced that Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan's leading telecom operator, has selected a fully integrated Harris broadcast solution to support its growing Multimedia-on-Demand (MOD) interactive TV service. The Harris equipment will be used to build a new IPTV headend that will support up to 200 channels and a master control room that will oversee five channels of original content. The sale represents a Harris ONE™ approach solution, including the NEXIO AMP™ advanced media platform server; the H-Class™ D-Series™ playout automation solution; Platinum™ and Panacea™ routers; CENTRIO™ multiviewers; the NEO® SuiteView™ modular multiviewer; the full Icon Series™ of master control and branding solutions, including IconMaster™, IconStation™ and IconLogo™; and NEO® and 6800+™ modular processing products. Control and monitoring for the system is provided by the Harris® NUCLEUS™ user-configurable network control panel, CCS Navigator™ advanced graphical navigation application and Q-SEE™ customizable monitoring technology. "CHT's interactive MOD service provides more choices and better quality to its subscribers, and Harris was the one company that was able to provide everything in one solution to meet CHT's exacting needs," said Amy Liu, president of Interactive Digital Technologies (IDT), the dealer and systems integrator for this project. "The CENTRIO multiviewer was the only solution to provide full flexibility in layout design and offered the best quality and feature-set on the market. Additionally, CHT has been using Harris routers and signal processing products for some time and is very pleased with the high-quality of both the products and the customer support." Marking the largest single multiviewer order to date in the Asia-Pacific region, the Harris system will feature a video wall with eight HD plasma display panels driven by 16 CENTRIO multiviewers and will display 400 sources within a single Platinum router.
