LAS VEGAS, April 13, 2008 (NAB2008, Booth N2502) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announces that its Harris ONE approach of providing fully integrated broadcast solutions across the workflow chain is resulting in a stream of interoperable product, system and software sales that are solving customers' real-world problems. Since introducing its Harris ONE approach at IBC2006, the company has committed to innovate along the entire broadcast delivery chain, tying workflow and signal flow together in ways that make customers' organizations more agile and more responsive to change. Examples of recent sales that highlight the success of the Harris ONE approach include Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan's leading telecom operator; Brazilian broadcaster TV Anhanguera; Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture and Information (MOCI) for Saudi Television; and RTV Slovenia, the national public broadcaster in Slovenia. "The Harris ONE approach of providing interoperable solutions across its portfolio is ideal for our playout requirements at RTV Slovenia," said Matjaz Fajdiga, head of TV engineering, RTV Slovenia. "The company's ONE strategy is fundamental to the implementation of our system and the close integration of the Harris products — particularly the NEXIO server and the D-Series automation — enables us to work effectively and easily across the complete workflow chain." The Harris ONE approach was critical for U.S. CBS-affiliate KREX in Grand Junction, Colo., which called upon Harris for emergency assistance after a January 2008 fire destroyed nearly all of its studio and transmission facilities. Within 24 hours of the fire, Harris deployed a team of engineers and technicians to the station. KREX was returned to air with a fully interoperable system within eight days — helping to re-establish CBS, Fox and MyNetwork programming to most of western Colorado, and in time for KFQX, co-located at the KREX studios, to broadcast Super Bowl XLII in high definition. "The Harris ONE approach of integrating products along the workflow chain continues to be one of the most important factors in recent Harris successes around the world because it creates efficiencies that today's leading broadcasters need to stay competitive," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "By leveraging interoperability based on open industry standards and integrating technologies into common platforms, Harris provides solutions that enable broadcasters to improve workflow, save money, get on air fast with high definition and realize new revenue streams from emerging media markets." Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
