LAS VEGAS, April 13, 2008 (NAB2008, Booth N2502) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced it will demonstrate how interoperability among sales, scheduling, traffic and automation systems within its H-Class software suite improves media workflow efficiency at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention, April 14-17 in Las Vegas. At NAB, Harris will connect complementary H-Class products to demonstrate commands, content and metadata moving efficiently among systems to streamline and automate the tasks that comprise broadcasters' media workflow. "Efficient metadata interchange and live communications among sales, traffic, asset management and playout automation enable our H-Class systems to manage many operational tasks," said Harris Morris, vice president and GM of Software and Servers for Harris Broadcast Communications. "Daily activities — such as prompt rescheduling of a commercial that did not run as planned; the search, retrieval, preparation and movement of media; and automatic updates of schedule and as-run logs between traffic and operations — then become part of a highly efficient workflow. This capability is critical in the DTV era, where broadcasters must manage the delivery of unique program streams to traditional and new distribution channels — most often without any increase in manpower." As part of the NAB demonstration, Harris will configure its new, next-generation ADC-1000 automation, OSi-Traffic and Comperio digital asset management systems to highlight such advantages as a complete PSIP solution, automated playlist exchange using BXF, and integration with nonlinear editing on Apple® Final Cut Pro®. In addition, Harris will showcase enterprise tools that provide workflow interoperability among its Landmark sales, Vision scheduling, Invenio® digital asset management and new D-Series DSX automation system. This comprehensive solution tracks and analyzes human and automated tasks across large-scale media operations. Integration with SecurePath's MediaDNS automatically provides content metadata and ISAN registration for the digital asset management, sales and scheduling systems. "Standards like BXF, PSIP and ISAN have allowed Harris to integrate across H-Class and third-party products, creating end-to-end solutions that produce streamlined media workflows," said Morris. "This enables our customers to efficiently manage resources and increase productivity and profitability." Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems, and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The Harris ONE approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
