David Toews, C.A., is vice president and controller for Harris Broadcast Communications.

In this role, Toews is responsible for financial reporting and planning, internal controls, credit and collection, and facilities. Toews is based in Toronto, Canada.

Toews came to Harris with the October 2005 acquisition of Leitch Technology, where he had served as chief financial officer. As CFO of Leitch, Toews was responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, forecasting, information technology and internal controls of Leitch and its subsidiaries.

Prior to his promotion to CFO, Toews was Leitch’s vice president of finance and administration, responsible for financial reporting, accounting and forecasting. Toews’ resume also includes progressively responsible financial management positions with various private and public companies and foreign-owned subsidiaries. Previous appointments include chief financial officer for Internet Sports Network Inc.; vice president, finance, for EDM Electronic Direct Marketing, Ltd.; controller for Tee-Comm Electronics Inc.; and various engagements at differing levels of authority with Coopers & Lybrand, Chartered Accountants.

Toews is a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, with a bachelor of commerce (honors) degree. He received his Chartered Accountant Designation in 1992.
