Up/DownMix, Loudness Control

Products & Solutions / Signal Processing

DTS Neural Technologies provides advanced audio processing technology that is utilized with Harris core processing products such as the 6800+™ flexible modular products, the NEO® advanced system products and the X85™/X75™ multiple application processors.

KEY BENEFITS:

Economy
Enables you to move to 5.1 surround sound using your existing stereo audio infrastructure.

Proper Video-to-Audio Timing
Add an upconvert to your audio signal while upconverting your video signal to maintain proper video-to-audio timing.

Improved Audio Experience
Any audio signal can be processed to a pleasing 5.1 before compressing, and loudness control can be added for those annoying level changes that occur between differing programs and commercials.

Integrated, Efficient Signal Processing Workflow
DTS Neural Surround™ products have a fixed propagation delay with an additional user-settable delay. When integrated with Harris® 6800+, NEO or X85/X75 products, a corresponding video delay can be easily added to maintain proper video-to-audio timing for correct lip sync.

These new audio processing products enable the television broadcaster to provide an improved audio experience in the home.

Techniques such as downmixing with watermarking, upmixing and loudness control are now available.

Downmixing with watermarking allows the carriage of surround sound audio over stereo infrastructure with upmixing occurring before the distribution of audio utilizing Dolby® Digital AC-3 encoding. Upmixing any audio signal at the same point in the system provides surround sound at all times. The downmixed stereo signal may also be upmixed in the home using the latest generation receiver/amplifiers.

Loudness control has always been an issue for television. Using new audio processing techniques, it is possible to provide an analysis and measurement of the loudness of a signal using industry standards with enhanced methods using human perception analysis.

DTS Neural Surround™ DownMix 5.1 to Stereo

The DTS Neural Surround™ DownMix provides a process for taking a 5.1 mix and creating a stereo mix. This is called a LwRw watermarked signal and is backwards-compatible with Dolby® ProLogic® II. The stereo mix.... More>

DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix Stereo to 5.1

DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix provides a process for taking any stereo signal and providing a 5.1 mix. True stereo signals (LR) are processed, giving a pleasing surround sound image. Matrix-encoded stereo signals... More>

DTS Neural Surround™ MultiMerge 5.1 DTV Production Solution

DTS Neural Surround™ MultiMerge is a unique process that always provides a 5.1 mix no matter what audio signal is provided at the input. The output provides seamless transitions among mono, stereo (LR), stereo matrix.... More>

DTS Neural Loudness Control Stereo and/or 5.1

DTS Neural Loudness Control answers the need of TV broadcasters and network operators to manage perceived loudness levels within a specific desired volume range. Unlike traditional volume management... More>
